Challenges:
Within a pre-established budget, the owners wanted a “High Technology” fully integrated energy conservative facility that provides all the functions and comfort for their tenants. To accomplish this, Concept worked out an arrangement with the owners to provide BETA site installation and testing of Staefa Controls newest open protocol building automation system. As part of this agreement, the owners had committed to put Sovereign Centre forward into the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) building of the year competition.
Solution:
Concept supplied and installed the complete electrical, card access, lighting control and building energy automation for this facility as well as tenant power metering. All of these systems had been integrated into building operation and ease of client interface with the facility. In off hours, the integrated system initiated by the access control, maintain off-hour lighting, elevator and temperature control delivered by the owners and their tenants.
Results:
- Concept has completed the majority of the tenant work in the building in a competitive tender environment.
- Concept worked closely with the owners on the BOMA awards application and presentation.
- Sovereign Centre has won the BOMA building of the year in Calgary.
- Sovereign Centre has won the BOMA building of the year for Canada.
- Sovereign Centre was entered into BOMA building of the year for the international competition.
- Concept provides complete “Maintenance and Support Service’s” for Sovereign.
- Concept continues to work with Sovereign on further enhancements to the building.
